Erratic steering control function
The steering wheel controls on my ZT with Hi Line system function strangely. The mode button seems to skip tracks the volume button skips tracks and switches modes if pressed the other way and the track skip does nothing? Has anybody seen this kind of problem before? I am thinking I have an infrared style control and perhaps its malfunctioning because it still works (kind of) Where as if it was a wired control it would probably either work or not work at all if there was a problem?

the highline doesnt use the i/r system.it is hardwired so i suggest you have a problem with switches itself .replace them

Thanks for clearing that up. I shall look for a replacement set of switches. Is it known for the switches to go?

Was it this car, or my previous one which suffered clock spring contact problems? Cannot remember, but if all buttons are misbehaving, it could be the clock spring. It provides contact between the buttons on the wheel and the part which remains stationary on the steering column.
Anyone clear up my confusion?
