Question about Hans Temp Gauge
Just fitted a hans temp gauge to a ZT 190 after a whole day of faffing trying to modify the cup holder blank bracket to accommodate the temp gauge.
The unit requires 3 wires, 12v live, earth and K-bus wire. I've connected these up with the 12v live feed being permanent live, however the temperature gauge never turns off. It stays on after switching the car off showing just ".C". Can't connect the 12v feed to ignition live as it starts causing problems on the k-bus circuit (for example I can't lock the car with the fob if I power it via ignition live), and still seems to take a feed off the K-Bus circuit as the temp gauge still reads ".C" with the ignition off, just dimmer. Is the temp gauge meant to always stay on or should it switch off completely when the car is switched off? seems like a very unnecessary drain on the battery if it's mean to be that way. cheers |

Should be off Rick, have you connected to switched live?
red/white wire with yellow dots every few CM's.The switched live is white/green and the black solid wire is the ground Last edited by suzublu; 12th October 2018 at 16:37.. |

i tried it on switched live but that starts causing k-bus issues. On switched live the temp gauge still doesn't turn off, it just dims down a bit when the ignition is off and still shows ".C", so it seems to be taking a drain from the k-bus circuit.
It is also interfering with the K-bus system probably due to the drain when the ignition is off, as I can't lock the car with the fob anymore when I power the temp gauge on switched live. |

Wired it up the same way as Pab done in that thread, ignition live is coming from fuse slot 6 which is ignition live, same power feed which I've fused for the DRLs on the car. Have connected the negative to the black wire in the stereo loom, also tried the black wire on the cruise control switch plug. the K-bus wire is tapped into the red/white + yellow striped wire behind the centre console.
The temp gauge still doesn't turn off with the ignition off, even though it's power by switch live. The reading on the temp gauge just dims a bit which I switch the ignition off and it's preventing me from being able to lock the car. As soon as i disconnect the k-bus wire on the temp gauge the screen turns off and I can lock the car. It works though when the engine is running and gives the correct temp reading. Faulty board possibly ? |

I’d move the live feed to one that’s not on the drl circuit Rick.
