Ignition keys where's best in nw?
Does anyone know where I can get an ignition key done in the north west at a reasonable price!
Also can I get a folding key rather than a normal type? Cheers Willie

Thanks Brian much appreciated
Do you dislike folding keys in general or is there a problem with the rover ones?

Early BMW Mini one if you want a folding key, absolutely nothing wrong with them to be honest if you buy a decent one, not original Rover but whatever really. When all's said and done it's just a bit of plastic like the Rover one with exactly same bits inside - just a different shape
I got mine cut at the bigger locksmiths in Aston In Makerfield by the way, he didn't bat an eyelid at the job and it's worked perfectly for about 2 years now. Any decent independent car key place should be able to do it though. |

Had the same problem. Bought a blank Valeo off e-bay (swapper-out the original transponder chip) and took it to a 'specialist' store a few miles away - had all the hi-tech gear but they couldn't even identify 'the right programme sir'!!!
Tried a small independent more locally (also did engraving etc.), no problem, left it with them for 15 minutes=£10. Had to take it back for a minor re-work (track either side was a little too shallow so the key was just a bit tight), did it right away, no hassle, no charge. He even told me that the blade was a bit harder than it should be and suggested I used the spare day-to-day so the ignition barrel didn't take the wear. Chains like Timpsons will cut a key but they insist on providing the pattern blanks. |

Getting one cut seems easy, but how do I get a transponder programmed?
