If you decide to replace the motors be careful as the two motors rotate in opposite directions .

I've just done the other one this morning and taken a few pictures. I chose to replace the brushes because i have some, the commutator is what I have found generally in good condition and there was no wondering if i needed a clockwise or anticlockwise rotation or the RPM or MA draw of the motor.
Most of the lock replacement motors which are the same spec as the Vis motor motors are too fast and draw around 120MA ( We need around 50-60MA) which, as i found out in the early days of Vis repairs absolutely ragged the gearing into oblivion very quickly.

Stripped out with no broken clips

One good motor (Lock motor) and one bad motor (Unlock motor)

Replacement brush
I cannot see.the images clearly on my phone, but those motors look very similar to the motors used in the early 80s to late for scalextric cars. They used to be plentiful, and the brushes were replaceable too (wasnt worthwhile as the motors were only a few quid to replace).

Try searching for scalextric restorations, I haven't visited the site for a few years now, but they may have suitable motor parts?

I imagine too they would be suitable as the motor surely isn't used as constantly as a scalextric motor would be.

Edit: just found a link

(Prices have increased a fair bit since I last repaired a car lol)

Hi Alan,
The scalextric motor is a path we pursued some time ago, unfortunately wrong voltage and the RPM in them is immense.
The actual physical shape and size of the motors is not uncommon but the RPM and MA draw is.
As I say you also need to know the rotation of the motor as they are opposite

The author of this appears to have used one of these to replace motor 20005 - https://www.google.co.uk/search?sour...=1584553311713

Correct but as i say they are a little lively, what is a little gentler on the gearing is the equivilent of the Mabuchi 20150. However, my experience is that many of these advertised are actually the 22125 but by all means, you pay your money you takes your choice.

The OP also clearly states that they got lucky with the rotation .....

The R8 Tomcat coupe has gone so the 75 is currently my daily driver. Put it in for an MOT today a little early and it passed with 3 advises. Happy with that...

Default North Wales.

Took my 75 up to Jules today. Stood and watched. Plenum drained, mod debris catcher fitted, bonnet cables sorted, pcv checked, error code sorted (recent light switch replacement wasn't configured properly), boot dry (lights had been sealed previously), battery tested and replaced and hideous led running lights and relay detached and removed, disabled stickers removed from rear and front screens.
Will need to go again for 60k gearbox oilchange, new driver side rear door lock ,cooling fan (inoperative at present) and inline thermostat mod. May go for 160 too if cornetto virus doesn't skint me!
Very tiring watching all this going on! Now confident that my recently acquired carriage is not likely to let me down with a drowned ECU. Nice to put a face to a name.
Than you Jules.

I went for a drive in the ZT to get some toilet roll, then drove some more, and more, and even more....... and came home empty handed.

I think it makes a big difference to the rear how it looks. I have to get one for the Connie silver one.

The Smiley plate is an integral feature of our wonderful cars. It's a must have as far as I'm concerned, one of the features that sets our cars apart from the run of the mill offerings.
