Roewe 750 rear doors for Rover 75 LWB?

Hi,

I believe the Roewe 750 was the same basic shell as the 4 door LWB 75. Our LWB has corrosion setting in between skin and frame on both rear door lower edges. I'm wondering if it would be easier to simply source two Roewe door panels and have the body shop paint and install them.

Does anyone have experience ordering Roewe parts...?!

I'm wondering if I should be approaching somebody like DMGRS to ask them if they can source a couple of door panels with their next shipment of parts - assuming that some of the regular wear and tear stuff is coming from Roewe...?

What about trying a restoration garage or bodyshop. Might be a cheaper option. I recently used AM Restorations in Plympton for work on my ZT. Check out there website. Estimates are free.

I have a feeling that I read (probably on here) that the Roewe was based on a prototype 75 from Rover factory which was not extended as much as the LWB. It was half of the LWB amount of extension I believe?

Also, there were quite a few LWB primed doors, assume from the factory sold on ebay several years ago, but unfortunately I'm not sure who bought them! Anyone on here have any ideas?

You would be better having your doors repaired by someone (Tom Hobbs springs to mind) at leat then you won’t fear the rust returning as most lwb cars suffer from rear door rust.

Thanks guys. Yes, a body shop is the likely way to go, but just sounding out the alternatives!

According to Wikipedia*, the 75 LWB wheelbase is 2946mm and the Roewe 750 is 2849mm.

* so not reliable for a purchase decision!

Interesting comment about a batch of doors. Rimmers have none in stock, not showing a part number either sadly.

MacNeillie appear to now be Babcock Vehicle Engineering, the office is closed now but will call again in the morning when they are open. I'll also PM LimoRog as he might know of a source.
