I'd massively prefer '****' to 'NAUGHTY WORD'.

The latter can often make a post unreadable, particularly when there are numerous appearances of it, whether that be for genuine infractions of the swear filter or other.

Just hope your friends prize NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- does not NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- his beak on a sharp piece of fence...

Could we build a list of words that trigger this silliness so that we can construct a new language called FORUMESQUE where we can communicate without being treated like 5 year olds??

I strongly agree that some words have no place in polite society and I certainly do not want my kid reading some of them off of the screen...

but some examples....

A male chicken or a drain tap on a cooling system: NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-

to pierce a hose or stab one's finger: NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-

Another problem with it being soooooo sensitive (and giving no indication of the length of the word) is that people can't tell if you are being genuinely offensive or have just accidentally triggered the filter. That's particularly easy to do posting something quickly on your phone.

Someone fell out with me on here for that very reason, I wasn't in anyway posting a torrent of abuse at them but when you looked at the post it certainly looked like I was

The filter doesn't really bother me. When you type a post preview it before uploading and if you've incurred the wrath of the spelling police replace the offending word and upload.

If I want to talk about a stop NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-, or an isolation NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-- both technical terms- this cannot realistically be worded differently; it makes the information I am seeking- or providing most inefficient and with the whole naughty word thing; unreadable...

i have to admit i've been a bit confused when attempting to read some filtered posts to me, the filter is more anti-social than any "Expressive" language plus being in Scotland - such words are used as punctuation

I say - remove the filter and leave us to be "responsible"

Paul.
