You were right to do so Tony.

Right or wrong it,s better to err on the side of caution.

Wonder if it's cos people want their Rovers repaired rather than being written off for pennies for a cracked bumper?

I thought Midas were the central database for all UK policies. Another name for the MIB. Didn't think they weren an insurance company in their own right. Adrian Flux are a broker too aren't they?

The Prudential Regulation Authority at the Bank of England (not related to the Prudential Company), advises that in the event of a policy holder having to make a claim that it does through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

If I may suggest, you can also check your policy documents for the name of the insurance/underwriter to see if you are affected. I sincerely hope that you are not. Same advice as Harry check with Adrian Flux

Think it's the other way round cars are being written off for £2-300 repairs.. loads of kids etc drive new cars doesn't help. Neither does the issue with certain body shops over charging and fiddling parts or the huge about of bogus injury claims which seem to be standard..

Very useful article Phil thank you, I needed a copy of certificate of insurance so spoke to A F this morning and they confirmed they had some customers with Enterprise/ Midas but not many and they would be doing all they could to help those members, sad for them but at least there are some safeguards at least which is good to know, see you soon

May be worth getting on the phone if you are insured with this firm
Further to that, the main name for the underwriter is Enterprise Insurance not based in the UK, as a result the FSA have no obligation to step in and underwrite claims until either new underwriters or new policies are in place should a claim be made before these matters are resolved.

I used to be a loyal customer to AF. Year and year I used to renew, then once they mis-quoted me, I saved the quote and arguments went to and throw until I produced the quote in writing, never heard from them again.

Since then I tried them for a few quotes and they were not competitive at all, infact I laughed at a couple because I was lost for words.
