Always fitted Pagid pads, and will be fitting front discs soon.

My brakes are absolutely rubbish and getting them sorted is high on the list.
They don't pump up, so I'm pretty sure it's not air in the system.
And they don't have the feel where something has seized either.

Pulling the handbrake up a notch or two improves things very slightly, but the rears were adjusted a very few thousand miles back, so it doesn't make sense that they're so badly out of adjustment to make the whole system poor.

I have only driven very short distances for months now and am not a heavy braker.
The brakes work ok in everday 30-40 mph driving, but on the odd occasion you need a bit a bit more, they inspire no confidence whatsoever.
As I said, I need to get them sorted.

My 05 facelift 1.8 has bog standard brakes and they are brilliant. I drive Jags at work and they don't give me anything like the confidence that the MGR brakes do.

This is exactly what happened to mine ok at low speed normal driving but when on the motorway or at speed they were useless. You may have the same problem I had. Once the dodgy Pagid discs were changed to the Unipart ones I have had no problems with stopping from any speed.

I have no reason to believe my setup is anything other than that fitted at the factory (52k miles).
I suspect the fact that they're 15 yo now is the problem.

Hi.
One of the best things on MFL is the anchors! Pedal pressure is light for a reassuring stop, there's no creep and being an auto the brakes need to be top notch. No complaints here re brakes.

The problem I have is with having a 260 and a 1.8T. Drive around in the 260 with 190 brakes on the front and dustbin lids on the back then get the 1.8T out and brake at the same point

Agree entirely Trevor. I have 1.8 T Auto and they are excellent. Best I have had. Mintex I think - discs and pads all round replaced last year.

I find the brakes (all standard as far as I know) on my 75s and ZTs absolutely fine. Indeed, they are better than the Jags which I own.

Btw, I remember being told at the Gaydon National (2 years ago?) at the seminar that the 75 stopping distances were better than Ferrari, but I can't test that one out, unfortunately!

There's always aftermarket brakes if you really want to up your stopping power.

My ZT300 will have 4 pot Brembos at the front whilst Geraints ZTT500 will be going 6 pot. Only snag is you either need wheels that are better shaped to accomodate them or you've got to gain about 15mm each side via hub centric spacers.
