I to noticed that on the thread and was intrigued to get one on the diesel I think the cooper box is very similar and a couple of them seem to have a external slave cylinder, more digging around needed though

The Mini Cooper Getrag 6-speed is not a direct fit onto a K-series - I bought one to compare against a PG1 gearbox. Nothing is impossible of course, but problems include a different bell housing stud pattern (predictable), a shorter input shaft and unlike the PG1/Rover K-series arrangement, the bell housing does not mount the starter motor.

I may have another look at the Getrag when an opportunity arrises, but sadly it isn't a straightforward task as far as I can see.

In the old days, we used to get over low gearing on top gears with overdrive (ie an add on gearing) which worked on third and fourth in the four speed gearboxes.
