Best model kit story I know was my father helping my cousin build a model of a viking longboat. There was one peice left, hunted the plans to see where it went . . . . it was the cap off the glue!

I am into model building. Have built cars, airplanes, helecopters. I have a airbrush to paint them with and i am on a site called flory models on there phil flory who is pro model builder does video builds to watch. The hobby has changed since the airfix days of my youth. If anyone is interested i will put some photos on here of my work.

I still have many models from my youth, the last model i built was a Lancaster bomber about 23 years ago.

My best model is a P51 Mustang in a 1:43 scale all painted up and hanging in the attic.

Cool

I used to build model cars. Whether it be plastic, wood or white metal. Also conversion work mainly to my own design. Don't do so much these days.

Built models from Airfix, Revell, AMT, MPC, Tamiya, Monogram, Western and list goes on.

I'll get some pictures posted up if anyone wants.

I used to enjoy them as a kid. Now my kids get them I'm dissapointed with the instructions, they used to name all the parts but now it's just an exploded view with numbers.

Symbols! They're everywhere - not just with kits - but with everything. Why can't they say what things are, we have brains and we can read!
There, got that of my chest.

Was speaking to someone on the Fighter Control Website who is in the middle of a 1:48 scale Lancaster

Looking forward to seeing the photos of that.

Expensive kit though

Brilliant.
As a teenager I was in the Air Force Cadets and we use to make models, some were even on display at a few RAF stations. I went from model aircraft to Warhammer models from Games Workshop. Met girls and stopped it all.

Now years later, I am into radio controlled aircraft and nitro/petrol powered cars. My son loves them too, so working on building our first nitro kit together.
But geez some of those kits are expensive . Can buy a ZT for some of the prices.
