Default My Diesel 75 is loosing coolant

The other day having paid for my fuel hobbling back to the car on my sticks I saw a disturbing pink run of water on the ground under the car.
Upon getting home things had got a bit hot well 104 degrees, I cracked open the header tank and let things cool after twenty mins I topped the car up with water and bleed the cooling system.
Then ran the car with the pressure cap off till she was warm 92 degrees. Then put a pressure cap on top of the expansion tank and pumped the system up to 22 psi.
Two hours later she was still sitting at 22 psi.
Any suggestions anyone the puddle under the garage forecourt and the engine overheating along with the car taking just over two litres of coolant, I would have said proves there is a coolant leek.
However the pressure test when hot suggests that with no pressure drop there is no problem.
I need help with this one? Has anybody come across this problem before.
Alan

Stat housing replaced last October and properly fitted no leaks with stat closed or with stat open .
The Radiator hoses were replaced in October also as they were showing outward signs of old age also did the turbo hoses at the same time.

Check the plastic outlets on the radiator I've know them to crack before.
Cheers

The seal on the thermostat went on mine, and the y splitter cracked and eventually failed. Couldn’t tell until it blew big style. Diesels very rarely suffer from hgf. They can leak at the heater matrix to and the branch feeding from engine to the matrix.

I have just checked the cars own expansion tanks pressure cap in the lathe between two centres, it is very slightly distorted but less than 1mm. This now raises the question should I be fitting a new pressure cap or a new pressure cap and expansion tank.
I’ll buy a new cap to start with to see what it is like between centres, before fitting to the existing tank. I have to say I would have expected the rubber o ring to have taken that amount of play up.

Default Diesel Dick

Water leak on my 54 plate diesel was caused by the upper heater hose chaffing against the N/Side under corner of the air filter housing

Thanks yes heater “o” ring replaced in October also, This one has me very confused.
Does any body know the normal operating pressure of the system with stat open. I think I will try pumping her up to normal operating pressure. And leave her overnight in the workshop and see if I have any pressure loss in the system.

When I was a derv driver I had a problem with coolant loss. I spent a lot of time and money trying to get to the bottom of it (I have no mechanical skills) before finally buying a new coolant cap. The new coolant cap solved the problem. Embarrassed doesn't cover it.
