Default HELP - footwell lighting mod done now one half of my rear courtesy light doesnt work.

Done the footwell lighting mod as per the "how to" on here and now one half of my rear courtesy light doesn't come on and off with the doors or the main switch on the front courtesy light panel, if you go into the back and use the dedicated switch it comes on and off no problem but refuses to work as it should even with the extra wiring I installed removed from the courtesy light supply. Really annoyed at this as I was chuffed with the footwell lighting and now have this problem.... what have I done?

I had something similar when I installed the Rover puddle lights. Only one side of my rear light works now and the lights for my rear number plate were forever blowing.

In the end I uninstalled them on the advice of my mechanic. And since then everything has been ok but still only one side of the rear light works.

Messing about with car electrics is just not worth it..

I put a new rear interior light in and noticed it was only lighting one side. However the lamp still worked manually on both sides. Only recently has it begun working by its self. So it would appear to be a mystery.

Open your door, hold down the main button on the front light switch for around 10 seconds, make sure it is illuminated shut the door and make sure it goes off

Ok so I have tried the battery disconnected for 30 mins and also Jordan Apexs suggestion and still the problem remains

I am now at a loss as to how to cure this - the light unit works on the switch it just wont operate normally with doors opening and closing etc.
