Interesting BMW mod
Looks as though the E46 fanatics have a mod to allow them to reprogram the "buffer" settings on the temp gauge so that the needle doesn't stay in the centre for the whole 75-115 range. I know nothing of the technicalities but this ought surely to be possible for ours in some way?

looks quite interesting, from what I have read you can set the position of the needle to a temperature zone... with zones starting and stopping at places that you can define...
basically you can have something close to actual output and even aim 88C at the norm mark on the gauge.... Worth looking into this one... thanks PS3000

Hmmm very interesting
Will have to have a look see if I can identify the hex string on a dump from our cars see if it can be altered same as the E46 Both Ipk's are made by VDO so may well be possible but suspect it'll be like the digital Speedo if the car is configured afterwards on T4 it will need to be redone Russ

The difference that pops up to me straight away is the E46 gauge seems to be a 100 degree needle sweep and ours is 180 degrees so the zone positions for start stop will need revising....
Does anyone know if you can simulate the input using resistors, and if so the values?

If it is the correct lime then it should be the same in all diesel ipks and slightly different temp values but the same zone angles in petrol ones?
