I have seen one of Tony banks exhausts fitted to a 75 that is quieter than the original system.

I had a Tony Banks system fitted to the ztt right after I bought it.

"What sort of exhaust note are you looking for" I was asked, "and pick one of these tailpipes"

"I want it silent, and the same pipes as what it left Longbridge with" I replied. They seemed a bit confused... but they did what I asked.

I'm happy enough with it, certainly no signs of rot or leakage. One of their original rubber hangers gave way soon after install, and the tube is pretty creased on some of the bends, but it's OK.

Certainly better than the m/s system on our 206 which needs some part or other, every year.

I've not used them (mij) myself, but I have heard good things from several others I know that have had exhausts made by them.

Thumbs up All is well that ends well

My exhaust ordered on Ebay at mijexhaust's finally arrived:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Direct-Fi...oAAOxyW7tRh7kD

Very fast shipping & delivery but some slight damages on insufficiently protected edges, even the package had obviously been well wrapped.

To make a long story short, I complained about one small dent & small scratches upon two areas of the back box (right bottom on the pic).
Very kind even he denied any responsibility in dents & scratches.
In the first place he proposed a replacement I declined because of a predictable large delay & appointment already made.

And I told him that for one spot (the one on the pic) 'scratches done without any damage on the wrapping they're located under are very unlikely'.

Finally he made a very fair offer sent me a £65 refund.
A very gentleman, I must add.
Besides an obvious quality of the stuff (BTW 18 kg), I think such a seller is to be highly praised & commended.

I wouldn't of worried about any scratches as it's going to fitted under your car and getting covered in all sorts of muck etc.

Fair play to them refunding £65 though.

I quite agree but would you accept to be delivered a new car with dent and scratches ?

What worried me a bit is that the stainless steel colour was different where the scratches were... If altered the condition may become worse with time...
I don't want to make any fuss for nothing but I don't know either the guy or the stuff and being a dummy I don't want to take any risk.

Bonjour Arnaud !

When you have it on the car, I'd be interested to know what you think. Some time soon I'd like to put an SS exhaust on my V6 too.

I see Tony Banks Exhaust say they can provide "Quiet as a mouse" and also "Mild Sport" where you can hear the exhaust on acceleration.

The latter sounds about right.... I'm not after anything that disturbs the peace of the car when the Cruise Control is on!

A bientot

John

PS. Comments from other "SS Exhausted" folk welcome too

Hello John,

Promised. I'll keep you 'tuned' about it!
I'm hoping a little more growling noise but as you I don't intend to be too noisy & noticed. That's not the aim.
Above all I've some hope about that less restricted system. Interesting maybe with my K&N panel.
But the main reason is that the present line was badly corroded & rusted.
I want a faultless 75 no less!

But as you do I wonder how many of us have fitted a stainless steel exhaust: not a lot I guess... because I didn't got many answer to my initial question in the first place.

I think I'll recycle the £65 in a costly £125 Banner AGM battery. I've done it before in my remapped Rover 25 1.4 and I'm delighted. They're lasting a doubled time so not so expensive... and an overpowered one never will let me down.

I have never ever encountered any car, irrespective of make or model that when fitted with a SS exhaust, is quieter than a mild steel version.

Oh and before you say it, three of my four R40 have stainless exhausts fitted, and the fourth has an original system.

By a country mile the original system is the most pleasant of the lot, even if it is 14 years old.
