Yesterday and today, my friend and I changed our auxiliary belts and aircon belts. My auxiliary belt was like new even when it was bent double backwards. My friends had cracks across the rear. His aircon belt was ok, and mine was full of cracks on the back. Now, they were both done by ourselves seven years ago at the same time. Mine has probably covered around twice the mileage. My friend uses his aircon a lot more than I do, but the belt is better than mine. So for his auxiliary belt to wear worse than mine must mean that it is pig luck how these belts progress over time to deteriorate. They were both Contitech belts. I have used the same belt this time, and my friend has used Dayco.

Fitted a new lower track control arm, filled the screenwash and looked at the other little things that needed sorting before I take it for an MOT.

I did not wire brush and underseal the brake pipes, nor did I paint the expansion tank or brake calipers or apply tyrewall shine

Sadly however, I don't have one of the attachments for my vacuum cleaner that allows you to make stripes in the carpet pile, because as everyone knows, this is a surefire way to increase the value of your car exponentially

Oh, almost forgot I checked the tyre pressures, oil level and water, which as every avid owner will attest, is not as important as polishing the car though

Oooh, shiny shiny shiny shiny, let's see what happens at the test station tomorrow

Well, I've just returned from the MOT station, and what a disaster that was.

I got advisories for not having stripes vacuumed into the carpet mats, and not having bolt covers on the seat belt bolts

Or on the other hand it could simply have passed without advisories

A full 191 miles covered since the last MOT, and off to the workshop to finish off the lower arm on the other 75.

It's about time I got rid of some of these things, what a waste having a car parked at your door simply to look nice

Today's job for me was finding out a replacement fog light for the V6 ready for the replacement bumper from Trebor, and stuffing more blue paper towels under the carpet!

We had rain here the other night twice, and to be fair, it doesn't seem to be any wetter, possibly even somewhat drier, so the windscreen might have done it. Not getting my hopes up until a longer period has passed though....

Will do the other 2 later - too worn out to carry on.
