i received a full dash from Tom Holland via hermes 3 weeks ago. arrived in A1 condition. He packed a wooden rood attached to the dash to stop any movement and i have never seen so much bubble wrap.

Our local Hermes driver has got into the habit of coming round at 8am ( when i am in the shower usually). He never asks me to sign anything and signs off all parcels himself. i am sure this isnt legal??

UPS are the best by a country mile. I like their old school ethic- uniform, old van and the most up to date technology.

I sent a set of lights with them, very well packed, ther were utterly destroyed when they got to the other end, not just broken but seeming as if they had been used in high velocity crash testing...

never again.... ups or rm parcel force...

I used to change the tyres on parcel force van/trucks and visited a lot of their depot's as a result, and trust me they are no better.

Parcels were litterly being thrown from van to van or from the trucks into the conveyor's. I once even watched a van driver reverse over a pile of parcels on the floor then just drove off laughing. There was always a strong smell of wine around too, either from broken bottles or the boss's were having a good time

I had a friend that worked for UPS and they have a dedicated team that re-package any badly packed parcels or anything that's been damaged in transit.

For anything of value, or which is unusual, I use UPS, who are exceptionally good. Never had a damaged parcel, or a late one, yet.
Collectplus is okay, for cheaper, but large things. However, Royal Mail's small parcel service does exactly what I need, the majority of the time.

I was the recipient of these lights from Klarzy, and yes, they had been utterly destroyed. How myHermes managed to damage them to the extent they did is mind boggling.

An insurance claim has been put in, but they look as promising to honour that as they do delivering an undamaged parcel. I think they damage parcels to prove how 'Rock Solid' their insurance is against a claim.

Every parcel company has the same problem with broken parcels. Our parent company now has a policy were the lads who unload the wagons are monitored by cameras that are really excellent, If any of them are seen throwing parcels they are immediately dismissed. They use agency workers for this purpose, so their are no comebacks on them when they don't ask for the lad back. Our parcels can be tracked through every stage of the unloading process by us, not the addressee, and if anything is broken by us as a driver we get one warning then out the door we go, obviously accidents happen but we try to keep them to a minimum.

You are right, it isn't legal. He is committing fraud every time he signs for the parcel himself. Also if you tried to make a claim for a lost parcel then you would be unable to because as far as they are concerned you signed for your own parcel so you must be lying.

as long as they can prove that the signatures match something like a passport or drivers licence...

In my experience Pete most people just put a squiggle on the screen, even if you sign your real signature it won't look like a passport one because of the HHT screens that make every signature look wobbly on a computer screen.
