Brake sizes? Diesel
Hi,
Done a few searches and I am not seeing an answer I have a zt-t diesel and want to change the brakes all round. From what I have read the rears are all the same except for the V8 260 and I can see mine are a solid disc so that is simple. Now the front, I have been told that they are too all the same size except the 260 but I thought the 190 was different too? Can someone shed some light on to the size and fitment please? Thank you in advance

190s & 260s & some 180s have 325mm front discs as opposed to 284mm on the rest of the range

190's have 325mm front discs & different calipers / carriers. 260's / 75 V8's have the front 190 braking system, with the calipers mounted 180° round the disc. The rest of the range (1.8, 1.8T, V6 non-190, CDTi) share the same brakes. I didnt think any 180's had the larger discs... |

Some earlier cars and 190s that had the small rear braking system, had vented discs rather than solid ones. You should be able to put vented discs straight in place of the solids if you wanted to.

Most if not all 190's have vented rear discs and you WILL need the correct calipers and carriers to allow for the increase in thickness (19mm rather than 10mm) of the discs!!
Sorry!! HTH?? Andy P.S 260 rear brakes are a TOTALLY different design due to the rear wheel drive and cant be used on a F/Wheel drive car!! |
