Default Car Key Upgrade?

When I bought my Connie it came with only one key. I bought another with a blade that opens the doors in case I locked the good keys in the car. (Yes, I've done that before.)

Now I'm wondering if the electronics can be added to the key case, and the key made fully operational?

Would a T4 operator be able to supply the components needed, or would they have to be sourced elsewhere?

I don't now if this is possible, hence the question.

Cheers,
Fifer

I had read this before, but there doesn't appear to be anyone close by. I suppose the easiest option would be to send off the EWS, but I don't fancy removing it and immobilising the car, plus I don't think I would completely trust the postal system. It would be a disaster if the EWS got lost or damaged in transit.

There does not appear to be anyone in the area who offers this service. With so many reports of keys going "out of synch" after a while I'd be wary of using this kind of service.

It was just a thought. I've survived with one key so far, but it would be nice to have a spare.

You can do half the job yourself using Toaf. This will allow you to utilise a used remote......... but it won't bring you any further forward than you are now, because you still won't be able to start the car.

Leaving aside the obvious security and insurance implications - Does anyone know if it would be possible to remove the transponder from a key, fix it to the inside of the steering cowl, and then use a key without a transponder to open, lock, and start the car........ or would the transponder signal being picked up by the ignition stop the car from being locked ?

Dont need a T4 ,just buy a program called EWS Editor Lite on ebay .code your own key chips to the EWS.

Thanks, but I'd be right out of my comfort zone there.

Thanks all.
