Bosch MAF sensor, good in spec condition **ACQUIRED**
Hi I'm after a 2nd hand genuine bosch Maf sensor, that is within spec and fully working.
Funds will just not allow a new one at the minute. Needs to be as cheap as possible! Thanks. |

Unless you get one donated to you, just run with the faulty one disconnected and save up for a new one. I can't see the point in paying £50 for a secondhand one, just puts back when you can have a new one, and it could fail the day after you install it. Many members report no ill effect from running without, except perhaps an increase in fuel usage. If you do a highish mileage I think you're better off getting a new one asap otherwise you'll be spending the money saved from not having one on fuel instead. If you don't do a high mileage then it's not quite so urgent. Having just replaced mine I've noticed a 5% improvement in fuel usage (about 2-3 mpg more than with a faulty one).

I have read that a failing MAF will cause over fueling rather than under, so depressing the mpg, that was certainly true with mine which hadn't completely failed. That is to say it was fine if reading a little high at tickover (causing overfueling) and just went off the scale when the throttle was pressed. Over time I guess the overfueling will contribute to earlier coking up of the engine all round as well as costing more in fuel, but £150 does buy a couple of tankfuls and if you don't do 1000 miles a month it's probably not such a big deal.
