Rover 1.8 Turbo no start
I have a 1.8 T and it won't start. It ran fine yesterday when I parked it. It cranks nicely but won't start at all. Fortunately i'ts just outside my house so I can attempt to fix it and I have plenty of tools etc to hand.
Tomorrow I will try easy-start. and check for sparks etc. Coil packs are near brand new. Plenum chamber is dry. No codes on code reader and could read VIN ok. No dashboard errors. Everything looks fine and sounds good, but no start. |

Does your fuel filter have the "fabled orange clip" (FOC) fitted? https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=101716

A strong possibility is separation of the fuel filter housing in the left hand side of the tank, it can be difficult to spot & sometimes quite tight to turn back to position, but if you do a search for FFS (fuel filter syndrome) & or FOC (fabled orange clip) threes lots of threads on here about it

Fixed the problem
Thankyou everyone. The problem was the in-tank fuel filter housing separation.
I have a orange clip on order to prevent the problem from happening again. The clip will stop the filter housing shaking loose and undoing itself in the future. The filter casing was only slightly ajar, but this must have been leaking the high preasure fuel back into the passenger side of the fuel tank and not sending any fuel to the engine. After twisting the filter housing tightly closed and re-assembly the car still would not start initially. What was needed was to add about 5 litres of petrol through the regular fuel filler to put some petrol into the drivers side of the petrol tank. Then a few ignition key cycles to prime the system and all fixed. I guess the driver side of the petrol tank was completely empty. When the driver side of the petrol tank is empty the fuel delivery and balancing system won't work as it is effectively powered by movement of fuel on the driver side only. |
