This is about as low as you can go, although the competition on this thread is fierce!

Bearing in mind that this was in Zimbabwe, when I lived there foreign currency was hard to come by so it became well known for being a bodjit country.

The worst, and oddest bodge on my own car that I've seen was on my P6. One of the inner D posts had a small hole appearing, so I decided that it needed cut out, and welding. After cutting it out, it transpired that the cavity had been filled with coal! I've no idea why, and obviously didn't replace it.

How about timber sills on a 100E Ford, shaped to look like steel originals and covered in under seal..
Cheers Ian

Right that's it. You've set my paranoia off into overdrive. I'm going outside with the magnet to check my car over.

At work some years back using a BMC J4 van as a crew bus, the throttle cable snapped. Using a radio harness leading to the throttle under the interior engine cover, one of the team pulled or released it at the rate I, the driver, made the "brmm brmm" noise with my mouth, up or down depending on the speed I needed. He, my "accelerator" had to lay on the floor so I could see the rear view in the mirror.

We made it back about six miles with no mishaps.

Friends car bought for a euro 2 week tour never even got 5 miles before oil and coolant spilled everywhere, may take it on as a side project but the rear boot badge still makes me laugh.

I replaced it with a genuine one just before it let go.

Best one that i saw was on a Morris Minor my friend got at an auction. When on the way home from the auction we had a puncture and removing the hub cap found someone had tacked weld on the wheel studs as they had lost the nuts!

Hi All
Years ago I had a Hillman imp. One day, in heavy traffic, the throttle cable snapped. The choke was a lever next to the handbrake so I jumped out and in a couple of minutes, swapped the cables over so the choke lever was now my throttle. Was hard work at first, but I got used to it after a week or so !! ****** think kept stalling because the choke flap was exactly that, a loose flap that closed off the air intake without notice, usually whilst changing gear. I was a skint apprentice back then, so fashioned a splice rather than buy a new cable and it was still fine when I sold the car on 9 months later (when MOT and tax ran out). Joys of motoring !

Regards, Mark

I had a Light green wolseley 1500 which until I clouted a Stone whilst parking , I found had Very nice "Wood" Sills , really smooth and painted body colour . ..

Also Later had an Old Zodiac which Went Ok , but after a few months during a home service found cylinder 6 had no Rod or Piston , ( Beat Audi by a few years for a (5 Pot )
