Rear brake hoses
I need to replace my rear brake hoses.
How should I remove the old ones? Does the nut on the metal pipe on one side of the bracket have to be turned or do I use the hex on the flexible pipe on the other side of the bracket? I had intended to cut the flexible pipe and use a socket on the hex but I'm now thinking that the flexible pipe side is 'locked' in the bracket so won't turn?? I have also read on here that some people have clips to hold the pipes to the bracket but I can't see any on mine or am I not looking for the right thing? Any advice will be appreciated. |

Bit of an update.
I've now cleaned off the brake pipe / flexi hose joint and I see that there is no hex on the flexi hose so I assume that I must loosen the joint using the nut on the metal pipe. The problem I have now is that I have a 10mm and a 11mm flare nut spanner however the 10mm is too small and the 11mm is too big. I've read on hear that someone else had the same problem but can't find a solution to the problem other than cutting the metal pipe and replacing that as well as the flexi which I want to avoid. So, is the metal nut imperial and if so what size? I don't want to use the wrong spanner and end up damaging the nut. |

The nuts are only nipped up, not grunge tightened, so you could use an adjustable spanner to undo them
