4 wheel alignment readout
No doubt a daft question
But after a 4 wheel alignment check and adjustment should all boxes in the readout be green? Only I've never had it done before and after some rear suspension replacements was told that I must have a a 4 wheel alignment carried out The garage that did the repairs do not carry out alignments. The alignments were miles out on the first test as you can imagine with 8 out of the 11 measurements in the red. The necessary adjustments were made and I was given the readout which I confess that I haven't got a clue what it all means. However on having a look tonight all the boxes and figures are green except for one rear ( spring and wheel disc symbol thing ) box which is red despite previously being one of the green readouts on the first test. It misses the tolerance by 11' Should there be any red boxes on the after "readout'? It seems a bit odd to me. |

One would expect them all to be in green and if not garage should of explained reason why may be something seized or bent. But sure some one with more knowledge will tell you more

I just wondered however unlikely that perhaps in adjustment if one box is just into the red but the overall values are ok then perhaps one out for technical reasons doesn't affect the whole thing. I know that sounds rubbish as it does to me but just wondered if others more knowledgable than myself might have an explanation as I find it hard to believe that the garage would do all the adjustment and leave one adjustment red and hand over the printout having presumably seen the red box themselves. It doesn't make sense and I'll have to pop back down tomorrow to see what the situation is. |

If the one that is red is toe, total toe, or thrust angle then it can, and should be adjusted to be correct. If the red figure is camber then there isn't any adjustment possible and you may need to consider the springs weak/broken or something bent.

Adjusting the front pivot brackets of the rear suspension's lower trailing arm adjusts toe in and camber simultaneously.

Kevin,
The rear toe error has been corrected but you've ended up with a worsening of the RH camber. Put simply, the top of the wheel is leaning in towards the centre of the car too much. Have a look at the suspension on that side for things like bush wear. Did you have any relevant advisories at the last MOT? Simon
