Default What a pain of a job that was!!

Just finished changing the clutch on my ZT, clutch master and slave. What a pain in the **** that was!

That has got to be the most difficult clutch I have ever done. Routing the pipe through from the inside to under the bonnet was a pain, manoeuvring the gear box back on to the subframe was a pain, lining it up and putting it back was a pain. General access under and around the engine is a pain.

Still. Done now and what a difference to the pedal! So light!

You know what they say,"no pain no gain". Glad you managed to get it done ok. How long did it take you?

Some say the clutch meister can do it in an hour and a half
All we know is he's called............. Andy

In no way am I taking the "P" out of anyone else who has done a clutch - I just find it astonishing that the man can do it in the time frame's oft reported on the forum.

Probably most of the time was spent getting the gearbox back on to the subframe and then lining it up again afterwards! Doesn't help, my driveway slopes and with the front of the car up on stands gravity was working against me. Should have put the car the other way round really.

Also seemed to be fighting every single bolt on the car, they seemed way tighter than the torque figures would suggest.

I've done quite a few clutch changes over the years on various cars and this was without a shadow of doubt the most time consuming and awkward.

Fair play to Andy if he does them in such short time. They do say practice makes perfect.

Easier to leave the pipe in situ and knock the roll pin out... Well done, I hate doing clutches too!

I fitted a new clutch to my 1.8 on Monday, took me four hours on my own,I do have a fully equipped workshop with a pit and do it for a living and have done them before, didn't remove the subframe but lowered one side and shoved the box into the gap I created, must say the clutch is lovely and light now
