Default Disappointed with new suspension

I recently bought a 10-year-old 80,000 mile Rover 75 and while I appreciate the comfort, I wanted to improve the lack-lustre handling, so I had all 4 shocks and springs replaced with Anschler parts, and then a 4-wheel alignment carried out. I put a thread on here first and the consensus was that it didn't make much difference what make of parts were chosen so I went for mid-priced.

I had hoped that by replacing the tired/fatigued parts with new metal it would make a noticeable difference but frankly it's still very bouncy and if pushed, even into gentle bends, it feels pretty scary.

What should I have done?

P.S. Don't say "bought an MG". lol

does your car have a rear anti roll bar fitted?if not fit one it will stop the wallow around the bends

Count yourself lucky I have the firm sports suspension set up and it is as hard as hell!
Might be worth checking the anti roll bar as suggested.

Is that the same as the standard MG suspension?

in a word yes or no.the early mgs had very firm suspension.which was changed as owners said it was a bit too firm.this set up became a option called sports suspension.so on the mg you have hard or very hard sports set up.plus on the mg other bits where changed as well thicker anti roll bars and diffrent subframe bushes and of course bigger wheels with low profile tyres which all add up in the handling stakes

The very firm suspension is easy to recognise as your fillings get a hammering! Also the ride height is lower.

Does anybody know when the rear anti-roll bar was deleted on the 75 saloon ? Since putting my 2005 car on 15 inch wheels, I have been pleased with the quieter, smoother ride, but wonder if adding a rear anti-roll bar might help with the slight loss of precision on cornering that the change in wheel size has introduced.

Is it an easy retro-fit to a late build 75 ??

Thanks

Pete

Answers are all on the Forum, in your case PPD differences/deletions are shown here. Fuller details on all engines are shown elsewhere in this thread, best to start at the beginning here.

mine is a 03 and did not have one .so i got hold of a bargain one from rimmers .which was for a zt and fitted that.these sadly seem to have sold out.you will need the following the roll bar the rear drop links the bolts for the top of the links.roll bar rubber bushes. the clamps for the bushes plus x 4 bolts to hold the clamps on.i did mine on a four post lift doing it on the deck was nxt to impossible.it is a straight fit the only mucking around i had was to run a tap in the holes for the clamp bolts which had become bunged up with rust and road dirt
