I'll agree with you - don't use a paper clip. If you want to do it on the cheap get a couple of milliamp quick blow fuse and solder a bit of wire to each end and then tin the other ends so there are no free strands.
And be careful that you don't damage the socket, which is something the cheap ebay reset tools have been reported to do. You never know when you might need it for some diagnostics. |

Safer as well. I had two reset tools, for some reason I was sent two and the seller didn't respond to my messages Sold one then gave the other away when I started using the BMW diagnostic software.
