Default Door card Mod

Door card mod, not for the purist but effective, and stops those door cards from popping loose after they been open & closed a few times.

Hand drill with a 3mm bit, drill an hole in the top right hand corner of the door card, on the front & rear OS
1

Then use a black self tapping screw to hold the door card in place no more popping of the door card.
2

Do each door card OS/NS
3

I did them all yesterday but forgot to take the photos so pics 1/2/3 were redone as a mock up today

yesterdays photos. OS

5

NS

I think they look ok and not out of place but of cause that is my opinion only.

I've done this on a couple of mine and it works nicely, prevents the door cars from popping off along the top clips. And with a black self tapper screw, you don't even notice it's there

Using genuine BMW clips stops this from happening Cheap clips off eBay are useless once you start using genuine ones.

Did this to mine after you mentioned it before Steve. Never gave it a thought until this post. Quick and easy. Thanks

Are these specifically E39/46/54 items or are they across the range of BMW's of the era. Do you know if the colour variations (for our doors they seem to be white and grey and there is a yellow version on the Tourer tailgate liner) or is it just a production line thing or are they all different?

You need the white for tree clip EKM100270, fit this to the top corner of the door card and all will be well, accept no substitute from eBay as they are made from the wrong plastic!

HI guys i would not know what colour is on my door cards they have never been off, they have never been loose either, so my mod is /was a preventive measure in my case but for others could be a fix.

It's just occurred to me that, if I do this, I'll promptly forget about it, and rip the top corner off the door card next time I have to remove it.

Of course, now that I've finally given up and disconnected the powerfolds, I may never have to take the doors apart again

You can finish the "factory look" with some caps cover.
