Door “Bullet” badges missing
Hi all I’m new here so hope I’m ok posting this, I’ve just recently got my grandads 75 on the road after 5 years laying up (he stopped driving) and I have just got it through it’s mot and I’m intrigued in finding more out about the car. He owned it from July 02 until I took ownership in jan of this year when he passed away. I’ve often wondered why it doesn’t have the door badges denoting “2.5 litres” as most cars of its age and type seem to have these, could they be optioned out from new? The car was second hand when he purchased it but I can’t see why anybody would want these taken off as it has all of the other original badges still intact. Many thanks in advance
Btw the car is a 1999 T reg Atlantic blue connoisseur se, registered 30th Jun 1999. |

Hi Jordan,
Welcome to the club. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your Grandad. The badges you're referring to are known as torpedo badges, and yours should have had them fitted. I'm not sure if there may had been an option to choose not to have them from the dealerships. On later models the badges were no longer fitted as part of project drive (cost cutting). Lovely colour Atlantic blue, and the early models just have such a nicer feel to them. |

July 02, definately PPD change. My earlier 02 did not have them from new. Not worried about it either.

Thanks all for the replies, I was thinking about buying some but I’m going to leave it just how it’s always been 😊 hopefully there are some pics of the car attached (if I’ve managed to do it properly)

Badges
They do enhance the car. I have spent 3 painful years putting every single piece of PPD equipment on my car. I was lucky it was a pre mid 02 model as quite a bit was still there but still loads to put back on. The last bit was the reflectors and seat bolt covers. There may be things I have missed but think its mainly to do with built in removable covers for the rear lights which would be handy the amount of times have changed bulbs.
ps you are very lucky to have the original proper leather seats which I would love to get.

As others have said. The badges should be on yours since it’s a very early car. It’s definitely worth getting them and adding it to the doors. Gives it a nice touch of class.
