Default Exterior rubber cleaner/preservative.

Can anyone recommend a product to clean and protect black rubber exterior items such as window and door seals? Something with weather resistance.

Autoglym do a vinyl and rubber care but it reads like it's for the interior.

Hi.

Start with a really good clean with an "All Purpose Cleaner" using something like an old toothbrush to get them really clean.

Then use Gtechnic C4 and ideally cover the car/put it in a garage overnight to allow the coating to cure.

If you've never heard of Gtechniq, they are a small company based between Northampton & Daventry and make many excellent products:

Hope that helps and Good Luck.

Thanks Andy.

Is it definitely suitable for rubber? The trim mentioned seems to be solid.

It's mentioned and recommended on the Detailing World forum (https://detailingworld.co.uk/). There's a fair few of us on here that are on there also - and yes, I have the same username.

Give Gtechniq a ring and ask. I've found them to be honest, decent folks to deal with.

Looking forward to the photos .

That looks absolutely perfect Rob,specifically made for the job.Exactly what I am looking for.Description says it gives long term protection which is good. All three of my cars will be getting a long overdue treatment.I've found it slightly cheaper in UK HERE

Thanks.

Just over £10 if you opt for slower postage.

I bought a bottle of Gummi Pflege and decided to try it on my Rover 45 as that one has to stand outside unfortunately, and as my daily, faces all weathers.I did all window, door and boot seals and are extremely pleased with the results.Firstly I cleaned all seals thoroughly with some white spirit on a cloth, this removed no end of grime.Gummi is very easy to apply and leaves a nice dark sheen fully restoring faded and weathered seals. It was nice to see the rain beading on the rubber confirming it is being protected.

Here are a few pic's

I bought another twin pack available HERE for £19-95 which I am going to use on the coupe and 75.I intend to treat all three cars 6 monthly hereafter.
