What exactly is the Harman Kardan sound system
Hi.
Excuse my ignorance ,but what does this set up comprise of. It's just that I have the opportunity to buy one from a car that's being broken not to far from me. Will it work with my poverty spec factory fitted radio cassette/CD multi changer ,and is also easy to retro fit it for a complete numpty like me. I know absolutely nothing about them in all honesty and was just curious to learn before I buy. All the best. Johnny.

Not my "how to" it's in the club Ice section Basically you need a loom, tweeters, sub, which takes up loads of boot space, & replace amplifier

Ron - do you noticed that in the first image is mentioned 12 pin connector but shown 18 pin one Excellent thread by the way. The difference in sound with the ordinary speakers is H U G E. Worth every penny! This difference is even physically observable - the magnets on HK are more than 50% bigger, in tweeters the visible electronic component /condenser?/ too. Simply

Go for it... it's a big improvement on the original set up, and although it might look difficult at first glance, it will be worth it. I don't find the sub intrusive in the boot, but would recommend damping it with some sound deadening material, it improves the quality of the bass from what is essentially a plastic box! And quality speaker boxes are not made of plastic!

I just wish the standard cassette/cd system had more variability on the sound settings, eg a good old-fashioned 8 frequency graphic equaliser. Even the one on my van's Sony is cumbersome to set up and adjust compared to the sliders on the one I connected to my basic cassette deck in my Renault 16 years ago.
