I had fitted to my Rover 75 4 brand new tyres and another new one for the full size spare I bought off ebay.

The spare had a reasonable tyre on it but I wasn't prepared to ever use that on my car so I had it changed as well.

If I sold my car with the tyres that are currently fitted I can prove the mileage the tyres have done which is 788 miles.

These could be classed as 'part worn' or even 'as new' but the difference is that only this car has had these tyres, no other!

The problem with buying 'part-worns' is you don't know the history or anything else plus you can only buy 'part-worns' if they have been properly checked.
Not from your mate down the road.
Because if something dreadful happened you are liable for it

The only contact area between tyre and road is about 4" square not a lot when you consider it.

It doesn't matter what make you buy but surely a new tyre is far better than any 'part-worn' even if it's only for peace of mind because I couldn't fit those type of tyres to my car and live with myself if something happened.

Fitted 4 Goodyear efficient grip at £54 a wheel, that's £216 to know that I have got a good set of reliable tyres for the next 20000 miles. All I can say is if you can not afford that amount for 20,000 miles, you can not afford to run the car. We keep reading about people who skimp on servicing. The last one I heard about was a chap who, yes, had almost bald tyres. Hope those type keep their distance from me.

That's a fantastic price but would you just spend that amount when its obviously not needed like in my case? im not a skinflint but being a single parent every penny counts.

I'm currently running part worns... Goodyear and Michelin, purchased from a garage who do a lot of them. Before purchase they always allow me to inspect the tyres so I'm happy.... cost per wheel, £30 inc fitting. 6-7mm tread depth minimum....

For those who want to pay full price for premium tyres, please keep doing so, some of you keep me on the road at a reasonable cost :-) and if no-one bought new cars or new tyres, where would many of us be, not that I could buy a new ZT of course..!! .... for me, I've never had a problem or a failure, always passed MOT's and never felt there to be a cause for concern...

Each to their own......
