Default The Hardest Game.

I somehow doubt the lad is on here, but Best Wishes to Amir Kahn on his adventures in America tonight. In the US, with a US ref, he needs a stoppage. Let's hope it's minimally effective, just about 12 seconds for safety's sake, and a complete recovery for his much-respected opponent.

Yes, impartiality is not an immediately apparent trait of our transatlantic cousins. For some reason they see a runner-up as a loser! Occasionally, the result is a foregone conclusion though. I remember sitting up with my dad, in I think 1949 or thereabouts, listening to the radio (or rather 'wireless' then). Eamon Andrews and Barrington Dalby (famous for 'I told you so' when he had said entirely different) commentating from USA when Don Cockell fought Rocky Marciano. About 2 o'clock am here. It was a fight too. Cockell got absolutely hammered but stood his ground until he could no more. Very courageous.

to a degree with all the different organisations i.e wbc wba ibf wbo and lord knows how many more i think it,s taken abit of shine of boxing, in the early 70,s it was possible to name how many world class heavies ali, frazier, norton, foreman to name a few now most would struggle to name 2, same with middleweights we had the haggler, hearns, sugar ray years with eubank, benn, calzaghe era but now no one instantly springs to mind and wheres the next ken buchanan and jim watt?

Me neither, just saw the result on the news. From what I remember of the description of the fight he put the yank down in the first and then let him back in. Stood taking punches with his hands down which they reckoned would all have scored even though not hurting. Sounds like he showboated too much.

No surprises there, then. Too much arrogance in boxing these days beyond the pre fight swagger.
