Default What a complete and utter Div

I went to fill the ZTT cdti up this afternoon, I popped the fuel filler flap open and there was no cap !

My usual method of filling is to remove the cap, place it on the garage fuel pump, fill and then refit. I've obviously missed out the "refit" the last time I fuelled up

Are petrol and diesel caps the same size ?, and will a 25/45 etc cap fit

My wife has the 25 and the fuel cap is totally different in as much as you need a key to take the cap off Lockable

I know this is going to help now but there's a holder inside the fuel flap so that you can't do this again if you get into the habit of using it instead of your normal method.

Now you mention it, I do re-collect there is a square thingy on the fuel flap - presumably that's the holder.

I'll pick up a new cap, and will get into the habit or either putting it into the holder, or find some way of tethering it around the fuel filler neck.

There should be 2,1 for filler cap and 1 for locking cover when locking doors.

I've lost many filler caps on other cars but since getting the 75 (3yrs now) I've got into that habit of popping it onto the holder and 'touch wood' never left it behind at a garage.

Unfortunately it's an unmanned station. I had a look around it yesterday, but there was no sign of the cap - presumably it's been binned.

Luckily the wife keeps a stock of carrier bags in the car, so I stuck one in the filler neck as a temporary measure. I didn't add any more fuel, as the last thing I want is to be slopping the stuff over the road. Bikes, wet roads, and spilt diesel are a deadly combination.

Hope you get sorted. Mine is 'belt and braces' as I think they are all supposed to be. It has a string attached and there is a receptacle for placing the cap on the holder inside the flap. So one way or another you shouldn't lose it. I'm sure some kind person on here must have a spare they could sell you.
