The latter is still bombed on a weekly basis by a coalition led by Saudi Arabia using weapons purchased from and maintained by the US and UK. The only form of stability in many Arab and African countries is for a continuous low-level of infighting between tribes and/or dictatorship. Trying to bring Western normality disturbs the equilibrium leading to destabilisation and major wars. Surely, we have learnt this in Afghanistan? I personally don't have a problem with wars. But, careful planning is needed in terms of who to choose as the enemy at what point in time and the desired outcome. |
