V6 Saloon exhaust hangers
Driving along a bumpy road yesterday I was alarmed by a loud BANK BANG BANG from the rear of the car. Upon inspection I noticed that the rear silencer was hanging near the road. The 2 rear silencer rubber hangers had failed!
I note that the original Rover rubbers had been reused by the folk who replaced my silencer last year. A poor show. Anyway, my query is this - I note from ebay that some hangers, specified as a fit for the 75, have a flat nylon tape around the outside, presumably to stop them splitting open the way mine had. Has anyone else used these or are they not recommended, given the amount of flexing the rear silencer is subjected to? Thanks. |

Having tried a few cheaper types in my time I would recommend sticking with the original types , even though they are a bit pricey .They work better as regards bounce and last longer , being thicker .
I have no experience of these "banded" types but don't like the sound of them

I bought generic ones which were too soft & allowed the box to bounce too much. I ended up with OEM from Rimmers.
