No number plate lights.
Myself and my wife recently bought two Rover 75 One Club Tourer (Mine) and one 75 Conasur (Wife's) My 75 is fine. But the wife's has some problems. The rear boot switch dose not work and the rear number plate lights do not work. Has any one any I idea ? I have checked and changed the bulbs.Where are the earth points on the back of the saloon? Thank you.

Could be something as simple as a broken cable in the supply or earth to the boot, a dodgy connection to the number plate light unit, or a problem with the unit itself.
The bulbs are connected to a printed circuit board, and the tracks can burn out. With the boot lining trim removed you can check the supply and return connections to the light unit either with a meter or by connecting them to a bulb. If you don't get a supply and return then check the cables as they go through the rubber bellows connecting the boot to the body, and the connections the other side. If you do then the fault is the unit so it will need to be removed and checked. You can buy a replacement but if you are handy with a soldering iron the faulty tracks can be repaired, or you can hard wire the bulb holders. The first time mine went it was down to a broken earth cable in the rubber bellows, and the second time it was the circuit board: [IMG][/IMG] Now hard wired: [IMG][/IMG] Last edited by Mike Noc; 9th December 2013 at 21:42.. |

I've got exactly the same problem with a Connie I have just bought for the wife.. I tried changing the bulbs tonight and eventually got em on, only to go back off again shortly afterwards. Might have longer look at weekend

My rear left number plate light works intermittently. Give the boot a tap and sometimes it comes on. I dread to look at hard wiring anything as I can only just change a plug.
