Hi Pete.
Well done, good job!! I knew you'd be a bit more thorough than I was!! What do you think of it!!! I think its brilliant having the track information in the display and control from the steering etc, for me, well worth it and the bonus of having my glovebox back!! Happy new Year to all!!

Hi Jontie

I'm really please with the intravee - it's really great to have the ipod integrated totally and being able to see everything on the nav screen.

I'm still just getting used to it but there are a few things I need to sort:

- ipod going into hibernation overnight and therefore need unplugging and plugging back in - seems I just need to set some recurring alarms to stop the ipod doing this

- The search function isn't that easy - I've got a Mk3 sat nav drive and so can't use the advanced search available with the Mk4. I think the Mk4 would be worth it just for this.

- I get a bit of interference that's audible at the start of tracks/when the music is very quiet. I used to get this, albeit to a lesser extent, with the standard CD changer. I suspect it's something to do with the rather long wiring back from the glovebox to the tuner in the boot. If I get around to it I may try and make a lead to mount the KCA420i in the boot area with a short section straight to the tuner. Reading on the intravee forum though there might be something else you can do with a jumper setting inside the unit.

- If I've been using the ipod then make a phone call (I've got the BMW bluetooth system fitted) then, as with the original CD changer, it pauses for the duration of the phone call. However once I ended the phone call it wouldn't un-pause. I think that this is a BM54 issue though and I think that there might be some new firmware available to address the issue.

Overall though I'm very impressed!

Pete

Hi Pete,
The hibernation issue isn't as bad when the temperature is higher.
Up to the onset of really cold weather it didn't go into hibernation for about 36hours and for me it isn't that much of a prob' with it in the armrest!
Where have you put yours?

Ah, interesting about the cold and the ipod entering hibernation.
The ipod is in the glovebox at the moment - as it's so cold outside at the moment I didn't spend too much time on the installation! Once it warms up a bit I may relocate a few bits so it's easier to access.

Armrest with Polystyrene Insulation Tile pieces works for a Colleague at work for his iPod.

This appears to give you full control using an MP3 player or even a simple memory stick.

Hi Dave,
Good find and cheap too. Are you getting one? I suppose it's inevitable that as time moves on something better and cheaper will come along

I've sent a pm to seller enquiring compatibility with hi line, where to pug in, back of board monitor or straight into changer lead.

Will await and see. Then just need to sell my standard alpine multi changer to go towards it

Reluctant to ask but, how is the Mk3

Pete, can you elaborate, what search functions DO you get with the Mk3, can you post up some screen shots of how it looks on your OEM Rover system?

Paul.

I was given an iPod Nano as a present at Christmas, and am following this thread with keen interest. Especially to Reebs' questions as I have the factory installed Hi-Line setup, with standard Mk3? Sat Nav, and 4:3 screen.

I'm very keen to hook the iPod up, but this could get expensive if it was necessary to add mk4 and 16:9 to get enough benefit.

I'm all ears!
