Thanks for the information Gents. Will try and find out a bit more before I take the plunge, don't want to have to pay for it doing twice !

Had the clutch done on my 1.8Turbo last year and the metal slave failed after a few hundred miles so won't be fitting on of those again that's for sure !

Has anyone on here used the Motaquip slave ? Sounds like a good option if it is the same as was originally fitted.

I've got this on my ZT.

On the other hand, the judder on my 132k miles CDT was caused by the delaminating of the friction material from the driven plate; the thrust bearing fell apart as I removed it. I checked the spring compression tolerance on the DMF, and it was within tolerance, so didn't get replaced. Clutch parts from Rimmers, (plastic slave), throughly cleaned everything, silicon lubed the slide tube, drained and back-filled the clutch hydraulics. Clutch lovely and light (it always was, right to the end), and judder free.

Can I just check, the motaquip part will fit the diesel? It only lists the petrol variants.
And are you suggesting that you would fit this rather than the Luk option?
Thanks
Chris
I've checked with supplier, no that one does not fit diesel version, it's part number VCC33 for diesels, which is £108 from same supplier!

Just for the record I finally went for a Borg and Beck Clutch and a Comline Slave Cylinder.

The reasons, I had a metal slave fitted on my 1.8Turbo which failed at just over 2000 miles, so had it replaced with a comline slave as it had a 5 year warranty, this combined with the Borg and Beck Clutch gave a really light clutch pedal.

This Comline unit has already out lasted the metal slave, so I thought why not repeat the combination on the Diesel ?

Just got it back from my local garage, a massive improvement over the one replaced, no noise from the bearing, light clutch, and very smooth take up. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Not just as light as the 1.8Turbo, but much lighter than before.

Cost breakdown - Labour £330, Borg and Beck Clutch £57.17, Comline slave £49.07, gear oil £22. Dual Mass Flywheel did not need replacing, so not too bad in the end. Well worth doing.

Hope this is of interest if you are comtemplating having it done.
