This member is very passionate over the car he owns drives and clearly enjoys!
The site does harbour several regular critical contributers, who seem to be aroused by the idea of making a fellow member feel bad about his car. There has been a recent level of bitchyness which has caused problems for the club at most levels, and there have been casualties. I have fallen a number of times when criticised for either advice or parts made available to help other members, this almost led to my departure from this club at the beginning of this year! I took some time out, made a few decisions, and remained here. We have to accept that as this is a club that relies on the written statement rather than face to face conversations, sometimes things go wrong due to either wrong perceptions or in some cases, the critic is not too well blessed in writing something constructive or useful, this seems to be common these days! We have so much technology to communicate compared to years ago, but we still cant communicate with the use of manners or feeling. The conflicts are hardly done in a manly fashion either ! They hide at home on their PC and do it, I was accused of being a mass homosexual hater a while back, it was not brought to the air by face to face conversation, it went on here instead of speaking to me directly after I made a silly choice of phrase. Now that issue got tidied up in a mature decent manner, apologies were made for offending each other (If we really did) and all is well.

My car is no peach, but it is something that has generated levels of interest far above my expectations. Its a R 75 on the outside, and an MGZT inside, sounds silly and probably is, but it is exactly how I want it.

My thoughts are with you on how bad you are feeling, but don't worry about the critics, they are too simple to recognise efforts made by passionate owners to achieve their desired specifications!
Please do the meet, you know you want to as do all of the other attendees.
Enjoy your car and day out please, regards John H.

A truly disgraceful response from a moderator and if you don't like what I'm saying ban me. You've already got my £10 and Klarzy's £240, so nothing to lose except your self respect.

[QUOTE=klarzy-dials.com;1951655]Offering services to help members get what they may want. Isn't that why I pay my 240.00 a year ?

[/QUOTE

Well said Klarzy, in fact I've just posted an invite for the club to ban me for actually having to the temerity to criticise a mod because I agree with you.

Another fact, I'm beginning to wonder why I pay £10 a year for the privilege of being denied the right of freedom of speech.

So off now to start a Moonstone owners club, sub is only £3,000 per annum, so I'll be the only member but at least I can control what I do with the money.

Added bonus of my Moonstone club, I can say what I like and the only person who can ban me, is me.

Welcome back to the age of satire to all of those who do not understand this post.

Default Now, now folks

On a brighter note. We had a fantastic meet at RTYC on Saturday and social on Saturday night. A nicer bunch of folk you couldn't hope to meet. I mean this by the way. Everyone had a great time. Our cars are in all forms. Some as made. Some improved to the owners likes. Take Flying Banana, Bob's magnificent machine. I am sure some would dislike the yellow dials or Banana soft toy. However when you see this car in the flesh and spend some time actually listening to the owner you cannot help but like it. It is awsome. Would I do it like that? No.
Would Bob do his car like mine? Probably not. It is the variety of these cars that makes the club fun. I had a terrible job deciding who to give certificates to. They were all awesome in their own right.
As to those who over do the criticism...why? You can say you don't like something and leave it at that.
Simples...
Oh yes ... DRLs....

Why not

Many thanks for getting original post back on track, just needs the OP who started this thread to come back and say "I've read the responses and my decision is this".

I suppose in a clumsy sort of way I'm saying this, post a thread, review responses, then tell us what you've decided.

In my opinion, if you invite the opinion of others at least have the courtesy of saying which way you are going.

So back to the OP, are you going to stick to your decision and give in to the mindless few or, better still, carry on regardless of their petty views?

Blimey! I do (unintentionally) put the cat amongst the pigeons sometimes don't I? It's just that I occasionally feel the need to speak my mind - must be an age thing! The jury is still out on whether or not I will attend any more meets. I'm also rather reluctant to carry out any more mods. Not that I can think of any I want, or need, at the moment. Well, other than another 'Marmite' one. If I can find, afford and find somebody to fit it, I would love a boot spoiler. I know, I know! Doubt if I would tell anybody about it though.

Anyway, thanks for all the (mostly) kind replies. I'll try and behave in future.

Now, anybody want to talk about the AA solar panel........

Chad.

Slightly off topic re the original subject, but I read Ronnie's post as entirely tongue-in-cheek.

Incidentally, even at night the Biomorphic effect doesn't work, unless you are under Amber sodium street lights, then it looks Gold and Green, except for when I drive through Golders Green, the only time it looks pink.

(For our politically correct members, the last part is a joke, just as is the post I'm responding to).

For the record, I don't give a Flying you know what for what others think of my car, I love it and won't let anyone put me off attending meets.

I hope the OP gets the message, attend all the meets you can, especially Sherwood, I'll be there so park next to me and listen to the criticism of my car, I need moral support.
The only one......

Would love to see that in person.

I remember several years ago when the some cars came with these special paint jobs, like the TVR.
A friend of mine who had a 3L Capri wanted to have his car sprayed in this new type of paint.
He sourced it eventually from America and cost him a lot of money, but the finished result was simply amazing.
Going from dark blue at the rear to light pink at the front but that depended on what sort of light you were in because at times it looked burgundy and purple.

My Rover is just CDX all over but I want a metallic blue top half or even black as I like both just haven't decided yet as to which one.

The other thing I like is white walled tyres but I'm odd.........

I was a little taken aback in the moment, but i take no offence.

for information about the operation of DRL's i have worked with an MOT technician and the halos that some members have bought off of me and that some have self fitted would pass an MOT if they are wired in parallel with the side light bulbs.

In the last pair i have sold i have added an isolation for the halo's if the owner needs to deactivate them for any reason.

i am now looking at dimming relays so that the units can be wired with 3 modes

Full true DRL : the halos come on with ignition and dim 50% with dipped beam activation.

Halo : The halos come on with side lights and dim 50% with dipped beam activation

standard unit : the halos are isolated and do not operate (manual switch)

on all 3 the relays and switches are internal to the headlamp unit.
on the Full true DRL mode there is a flying switched power lead to connect to the switched live of the car.
the remaining 2 modes are completely plug and play.

My point of view as to thier use is simple, it is your car, as long as it is legal then you should do as you wish, and without scorn or insult from other users.
