Sad to see so many
Hi
After work I popped round to the local scrapyard just to see if anything new and of interest had come in. Sitting in the corner was a new arrival waiting to be butchered. It was a 05 plate 75 in fire frost red ( I think ) and on the whole it looked in really good nick with all the body panels straight and dent free. I couldn't see any scratches or scuffs anywhere. Inside it was kitted out with black leather interior ( again in real good condition ) The tyres where all shot but the alloys where perfect. The reason for it being there was the usual Hgf scenario. This car was parked outside the scrap yard awaiting to be dragged in at some stage so it may not yet be officially declared as a scrapper due to the paper work not yet being processed. Its such a shame to see a tidy looking car go to waste for such a easy fix. If I had the space and the relevant amount of brain cells to carry out the work required I would of made him an offer. Johnny

Yes its not a nice thing to see is it, I have seen a couple of similar myself, I cant imagine scrapping a 75 for a HGF myself as it seems they can be fixed so effectively, the other thing I have seen them scrapped for is clutch failures, and that is even worse imo

It's sad to see yes but it's not a new thing is it. Iv'e seen so many lovely motors crushed its a crime.
Back in the early 80's (i'll never forget it, it scarred me for life!), i saw an open top sunbeam alpine in white with a black hood being crushed and there didnt seem that much wrong with it apart from the wings were held on with scellotape and a bit of rust.! |

As you say Oddsox it's a fact of life. There might be just a faint glimmer of hope for this car though. A fellow member has just texted me asking for details of it with a passing interest to buying it. Providing it is " fire frost red " which I'm 99% certain and its not to badly neglected it may live for another day.
I,ll let the other fellow member announce his intentions to buying it.( I wont name him ) He might get cold feet by the morning lol Johnny

Its a shame to see, but is it such an easy fix? Most people would rely on a garage for a repair like that, and we all know what some quote for HGF on a 75
For us these are lovely cherish-able cars, for some they are just family hacks. One mans trash is another mans treasure n'all that. |
