Default Given up on the Double Din idea

It wuld seem that the things are conspiring against me on this idea so have decided to replace the Harmony unint with a single din unit and get the map updates for th garmin unit I already have.

So will most likely sorce a Sony DSX S-100 like I have in the MGF and fit that so I can take my music collection on a memory stick with us.

After reading all the trials and tribulations with the cheaper Chinese DD units in that forum have decided it is not worth the risk and hassle to me to try that route and cannot afford to go "upmarket".

The funds that I had hoped to use for this DD unit will now go towards servicing the CDT in readiness for our European adventure .

A very sensible decision. I used to have a DD unit but got shut and replaced with a decent Kenwood set up that does everything bar say nav (Garmin sees to that on the rare occasion it's needed), reverse camera and playing of dvd's.

I had toyed with a newer version of the DD but the prices and apparently huge amount of problems coupled with me not actually needing one frightened me away.

Sounds like you've quite a trip planned. Enjoy!

Thank you it is a "Bucket List" thing as our Americans friends say Mother has been saying for about 30 years if Dad died and left her on her own she would move to France. As he lived to 93 sadly her health is no longer as good as one would wish but she still wants to do it so we are going to move to France and see how she likes it.

Initially rent a place and see how it pans out from there.

The Garmin will be useful until we learn our way about no doubt.
