Default Access to head light bulbs?

When driving at night since the re-polish of the lenses the dip beam is adequate, barely, but main although very bright only lights up a patch of road about 20 feet in front of the car which is pretty useless.

Have read through the posts on adjusting and see lots of mention of improperly seated bulbs. I am not surprised as just checking under the bonnet I see it's about impossible to get tat them let alone see if the bulbs are seated properly .

Sensible suggestions on a post card please .

Use the hatch in the wheel arch liner.Turn the steering so you can access easier. Then fit Osram nightbreakers, great bulbs

Default access panel

go via access panel near front wheels .1 turnbuckle and panel comes off easy enough.then its just a case of getting your hand in and placing the bulb.hope this helps you kev.

Ok thanks I believe that's for the dip but I cannot get my hands in behind the main beak unit so check even with a bright LED torch I cannot see if the bulbs in the main beam are seated correctly

As bonkers as it seems taking the bumper off can be the quickest solution but I would go for Osram night breakers. Perhaps hold out and upgrade to a set of projectors or Xenons.

As I know nothing about either projectors or Xenons .

So for now I will replace the bulbs. The dip are certainly dimmer than the main which makes me wonder if they are going home?

Ahh I see Xenons are just a fancy bulb that fit into the standard unit? is that correct?

Or do the Xenons fit into different light units?

If they fit my standard units I can buy an uprated set of H7, H1 and 501's.

Found these which say:-

COLOUR TEMPERATURE APPROX 5600K
So I assume these are the Blue/White ones. They also do non road legal 100W lamps at a slightly different temp colour of 5100K

Thank you. Still not 100% clear but it seems that I can fit xenon tech bulbs to my std Halogen units so that's what I will order and see if i can see a bit further than the 30 feet or so now on main beam. There must be somethign wrong with the fitting for them to shine so low.

They are OK for looking out for Toads and hedgehogs but that's about it.

No no no,xenon tech bulbs as you call them, are generally rubbish. Fit Osram Night breakers or Phillips Night Vision, total transformation. You should be able to see/feel if your bulbs are seated correctly by the spring clips,or the main bulb is shaped like a "D" into it's socket, pull off the plug, unclip,& reseat.
