Good Evening Gents, does anybody know what the difference is in the 75's mirrrors? Both sides of my car the heating elements are hardly working/ not working, (checked connections and power all ok) Looking at ebay for heated replacements for £9.99 however I'm told that my 02 plate has the later type which are dealer only at £32 +vat, can anyone tell me the dofference between the 2 types.
Regards, Mike..... |

There are two mirror styles, so-called 'bullet' type and the later 'scullcap' design. The names are used to distiguish the shapes of the body-coloured or chrome trim covers.
The later design was fitted around the time of the facelift (2004-ish) so I'd have expected yours to be the bullet style. Anyway, the mirror glasses have different shapes. There's a useful How To on servicing mirrors here: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ight=scull+cap TC |

My 52 plate Tourer has the later type so I would think the change date was nearer 2002. Up to VIN Number 255987 for bullets seems to ring a bell.

All cars built after 6th May 2002 (from VIN number RJ 255987 onward) were fitted with the redesigned door mirrors.
This was a "Project Drive" cost cutting measure which meant MG Rover only had to manufacture & fit one type of mirror to all of their Rover 25/ MG ZR, Rover 45/ MG ZS & Rover 75/ MG ZT range. See extract below: |
