Default New Mg, Couple Of Probs

MG ZT-T 2004 FACE LIFT, 1.8 TURBO
just got back from 300 mile round trip to buy my first MG, loved driving the car home after driving an mpv for 4.5 years, couple of things that i did not notice on the test drive,
1st= air bag warning light came on after 10 mins of driving and stayed on for 140 miles, i did move the drivers seat a few times, could i have touched a wire or somthing?
2nd= passenger air vents only blowing cold , drivers vents nice hot air.
hope someone can help me get everything as it should be on this great car.
who do i send my £3 to for this great site.
thanks,

Airbag warning light is usually cured by wiggling the wires under the drivers or passengers seat. Permanent fix is to cut the connector & solder them.

Do you mean the rear passenger vents? If so, they only blow cold air.

Good to see you're enjoying your new steed. Hope it brings you many miles of happy motoring to come

In answer to your questions:
1. Yes, you probably have knocked a wire. Under both drivers and passenger seats are the connectors to the seat airbags. Give the connectors a good firm push together, maybe even a wrap of electrical tape around them to hold them together - hopefully that will solve the light on the dash.

2. Do you have the full automatic climate control? If so check the settings on the display. If both set to the same temp then it might be a blocked heater matrix that's causing the uneven temperature. If you bought the car from a garage ask them to sort this as it's quite a complex job. We have instructions here though if you fancy a crack yourself: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=7515

If you wish to subscribe then click on the "Subscribe" blue oval at the very top right of the page. This will take you to PayPal where you can send monies over. Once done and all has gone through you can change your own name to red by following the instructions here: http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=15590

Hope that helps.

thanks for info, i have looked under the seats and seen the wires, will have a better look in day light, there are plugs not connected to anything, are they for electric seats that rea not fitted to my car?
cold air to the passenger in the front. i can adjust the digital display on the passenger side to HI and still cold air.
the dealer is 140 miles away so i dont fancy going back for them to check.
The heating was the only thing i didnt check before buying, 4 years old didnt expect it not to work.
Tv, sat nav, TM etc all working great.

Under the drivers seat you will see a pair of connected plugs. Should be blue and yellow. Just give them a squeeze together and the light should go out.

NOTE: Only do this with the ignition off for at least 30 minutes to prevent any accidental signal instructing the airbags to deploy.

Any other connector blocks not active are just part of the loom so there's no need to worry about them.

...and don't forget to do your plenum chambers pronto! Here's some info for you to help (go to the bottom of the list of datasheets) along with guides on all sorts of things.

I've had big problems with my airbag warning light (some of you may have read my threads). I had the wires soldered, so was interested to note the colors detailed in this post as being blue and yellow, when I checked mine the colors the tech soldered were - Drivers side Red/purple & Red/orange to 2 blue: Passengers site white/purple & white orange to 2 blue.

If these aren't the airbag wires anybody got any idea what they would be for?
