Thanks all for the replies - I'm amazed at how busy the forum is - it certainly helps and answers the problem of no main dealer to call at. The problem seems to have fixed itself (fingers crossed). I had the nearside rear light cluster and the boot seal out the other week and refitted them with a good helping of butyl rubber sealant. That seems to have fixed the water getting into the boot. I wondered whether it was connected to the problem with the doors but reckon that they must just be a coincidence. All seems to work as normal apart from the audible bleep when you lock the car with a door/boot/bonnet open but at the moment I can live with that. The thermostat gasket is the next job now. Can anyone recommend a service garage in Essex - Chelmsford/Southend area please. Dave, I'm in Wickford. Thanks all again for your help, R

Make sure whom ever replaces your stat changes all the parts inc the temp switch.Not a massive job but a little time consuming, welcome to one of the KV6's weak spots
