Question A/C compressor noise

Since I bought my KV6 75 never had the A/C working. Today I decided to remove the undertray and I found out the red wire plug wasn't connected to the A/C compressor.

So I reconnected and turned the engine on and pressed "Auto" in the ATC. A very nice cold air coming from the ventilation system and the radiator fan was working.
Everything was perfect for 5 minutes. After that, the engine starts to shake a bit and I heard a Bearing whirring noise from the compressor along with a bit of smoke.

Immediately I turn off the engine and assess the compressor and the belt.
The belt was fine but the A/C pulley was hot.

I've recorded that moment and it can be seen here VIDEO

Some facts:
  • The radiator fan is working all the speeds(3-speed fans without a resistor)
  • A/C was recharged last year and no leaks were found
  • During the time the A/C compressor was working, there was cold air in the cabin
  • After this incident, I didn't turn the A/C on again, everything was working fine and I drove back home.

My first thought is the compressor clutch bearing. Am I right?

Any comments and opinion about this would be very appreciated.

Getting hot and smoking sure points to the clutch, if I were you I would flush the system when the compressor is done.

thanks for your answer.
However the bearing noise and smoke started right after the clutch got disengaged in the first cycle On/Off. It's visible in the last secs of the video.

Anyway I assume the compressor shouldn't even start if high pressure is detected by the trinary switch?

When you first zoom into the compressor pulley the clutch is engaged. You then move the camera to the radiator grille to pick up the noise of the fan. When you return to the compressor the clutch has disengaged.

There's obviously something wrong now. Find a small, preferably sole trading air conditioning specialist. Get the refrigerant extracted and weighed (the correct charge is 450g). A good operator will perform a nitrogen test for leaks. If it passes, evacuate for 30 minutes minimum then recharge adding refrigerant oil.
Test the system.
