Thanks for all the help, I tapped the unit under the bonnet and I could hear the pump running. Turned the engine over and it started straight away. It's booked into the garage that sold it to me but now at least I can drive it there and won't need it transported there.

Do they know these cars well Al? I looked at a car which was suffering a loss of power, and after a BMW garage mechanic had suggested changing the high pressure fuel pump was the next step to cure it.
Had he done that it wouldn't have made any difference, as the cause was a partial blockage in the low pressure fuel supply line. Hopefully yours will be a straightforward and cheap fix - keep us posted. |
