Default Lubrication

I'm planning an oil change on my 1.8T in the near future and I was wondering what experience other members have on what's best to use. All recommendations appreciated.

Any well known brand to the spec in your hand book.

There's not a lot to choose between them.---

Tesco have their own brand fully synthetic 5/40 at very reasonable prices.

The Handbook specs:

The default oil is semi-synthetic. Fully synthetic is fine but will usually cost more. Vital specs are the ACEA for each engine type.

Tesco are only putting 4 Litres in their packs, it caught me out and I had to buy more.

I've tried various types in mine from cheap to expensive (currently using Helix fully synth 5/30) and have found they have made no difference to running, noise, economy, etc. Therefore I'm planning to go back to Triple QX 10/40 from Eurocarparts, next time they have their BOGOF offer on. It seems about the best value from what I've had so far and suits the k-series well.

Your choice of oil will be determined by how good you wish to feel about how well your car is being pampered. For that great feelng, use Millers XF 5W40, Shell Ultra 5W40 or Shell HX7 10W40.

Or you may wisg to make do with a cheap oil.
