Default Tracking a ZT in Europe

Does anyone know if there are similar websites in mainland European countries to the British DVLA one which allows you to check the road tax status of a car?

I am trying to track down a LHD MG ZT which was a development car for the V8 production model.

She was #13 made, and spent some time in Australia being tested. I assume she came back to MGR in the UK afterwards, but as a LHD vehicle may have been sold into Europe. I have her VIN number and her UK registration plate.

Can anyone help?

Cheers

Andrew

Not in NL. The information is there, but it is considered private and not accessible by non-government persons.
I tried to ask how many Rover 75 where left in NL, and I couldn't even get an answer on that.

Thanks Supervinnie

Sounds like the authorities are a little paranoid over there

Maybe. It is considered private information, and thus it is hidden away. I think your best bet would be to contact MG/Rover clubs to see if they know of any.

p.s. I don't know how it works in Germany, maybe its easier there?

Not in Italy. You can query cars in Italy by Registration Marks (italian) I'm afraid

VIN logs are public in my country but I can bet you the car is not here. We have here the most common Rover's . I have not seen a Monogram car around here and there are only a couple of LHD ZT's.

The only reason I can't own a ZT 260 is the registration tax in Romania of over 12.000 euros. Looking for a LHD MG ZT 260 on UK plates!

Not entirely true. With the registration you can get the APK/insurance info and when the car changed hands etc. All registration numbers available, colours, registration dates etc., but not VIN's are freely available from the RDW (Dutch DVLA). Paying a fee will get you more information including (sometimes) ownership details.

Number of cars is easy too from the RDW. For example 13 R75 V8's now known to RDW, including 1 Tourer (#850), of which 1 is probably recently exported or 'died', and 2 are parallel imports (probably 'MGR Death-Auction' cars). Originally 11 were destined for NL. I have all 13 registrations if anyone is interested!

See you at the "Best of British" Classic Park in Boxtel on the 24th Sept. (?) and I'll point you in the right direction !

Tracing #000013 ZT V8 from its 6-digit partial VIN may be trickier, but I believe even that is possible at a price if you can extrapolate or know the full VIN.

Really wonder how you managed to get that information. I have been on the phone with the RDW before, even tried some "legal" websites that promise a similar amount of information, and I couldn't get any numbers.
The only way to see was to try every numberplate combination between 2000 and 2005, and then see what comes up.

Sorry, Andrew, this is not going to help you at all and so is a bit off topic, but ...

Probably difficult with a large number, since once you have the list of reg. numbers from the site you have to key in each interactively on the webisite to get the details. By so doing I got this for example:

#850 ....10-HDF-8 ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 TOURER AUTOMATIC BLAUW 1-2-2005
.........20-TX-XH ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC GROEN 16-2-2005 parallel import. Currently uninsured (RHD ????), Last APK to 25 juli 2015
.........87-SH-DF ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC GROEN 24-2-2005 parallel import.
.........11-RD-ZL ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC BRUIN 2-3-2005
.........58-RF-RP ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC BEIGE 7-3-2005
#829 ....37-RD-VJ ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC BRUIN 14-3-2005 My 'Olive' !!!!!!!
.........30-RG-BK ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC ZWART 16-3-2005 Currently uninsured, Last APK to Feb 2017, With dealer ??? / Terpstra ?
.........52-RT-ZB ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC GROEN 18-3-2005 parallel import.
.........62-RH-ZG ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC BRUIN 14-4-2005
.........61-TX-ZK ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC BEIGE 30-6-2005 parallel import.
.........08-RR-DS ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC GROEN 8-7-2005
.........33-RT-PD ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC BLAUW 1-9-2005 No longer registered by RDW (30-April 2014), Scrapped?? /Exported ??
.........68-RV-HL ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC GROEN 6-10-2005
#867.....54-JSZ-5 ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC ZWART 22-10-2005 RHD
.........4-sZF-95 ROVER 75; 4.6 LITRE V8 AUTOMATIC GRIJS 19-12-2013 RHD parallel Import from Germany. Currently uninsured Last APK to 24-01-2017. Probably re-exported.

(The VIN numbers and some of the 'comment' text I have found elsewhere; RDW does not give you VIN or 'meldcode').

David
