Default At your own risk !!!!!!!

Had a few parts from a ZT to be put away for future use.

I clean parts thoroughly and then wrap and bag them before boxing them.

Today as SWMBO was out I rebelled and decided to put them in the dishwasher for a good hot wash and clean.

WOW !!!!!!!! They came out spotlessly clean. A dishwasher is a good parts cleaner.

Mind you, if SWMBO knew it would be followed by .

Exclamation

I'd be concerned about the health and safety element. Diesel is a known carcinogen, as is used engine oil. Most oils cause contact dermatitis.

My opinion is that this practice is irresponsible and dangerous.

I was thinking similar Stu, oil getting in to the water course, and food holding products being placed where oil has been. OP not criticising you, but serious health risks here

I have plans to replace our dishwasher with a new model in the kitchen, and plumb the old one in at the back of the garage to use as a GhettoTech parts cleaner.

You can often get secondhand parts cleaners, they circulate a cleaning fluid, possibly paraffin based, the fluid is fed through to the brush. They do a good job and wont harm your insides or the water system.

To be fair, he didn't say which parts........could be parts not contaminated? But if they are, I think you owe your good lady a new dishwasher
